What is Calvary Cares Community Development Corporation?

The Calvary Cares Community Development Corporation, also known as C3 CDC is a nonprofit 501 © (3) community based organization located in Englewood, New Jersey. C3 was established by Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Vernon C. Walton to serve as a vehicle for economic and community development in Englewood and all of Bergen County. As a not for profit entity, C3 seeks to:

  • Develop partnerships with public and private entities to improve the quality of life for residents
  • Develop programs and provide services to address the wide scope of socio-economic needs of residents
  • Develop programs that enhance the educational opportunities for the youth in the community
  • Develop programs that help families develop strategies to purchase home and avoid foreclosure
 

SERVICES

Calvary Smart Kids Academy

Calvary Smart Kids Academy serves youth in grades K-8 in an afterschool and summer program by focusing on creating age appropriate activities that enhances academics, culture and leadership. Calvary Smart Kids Academy will also focus on NJASK skills prep in Language Arts/Reading and Mathematics

 

Life Learning Institute

The Life Learning Institute focuses on providing a faith-based environment that will  teach, strengthen and fortify skills of individuals whose quality of life has been diminished as a result of varying circumstances.

 

ESL (English as a Second Language)

In partnership with Bergen County Community Action Partnership and New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce.

 

Housing Education

The Calvary Cares Community Development Corporation Housing Project will provide workshops and counseling for low to middle income homebuyer on financing as well as Foreclosure Intervention and Loan Default.

 

Summer Book and Dinner

Students are assigned a novel for their grade level (1st-8th grade). 4 Fridays out of the month they will do a brief book report in front of their family as well as other student’s families. A potluck dinner is contributed by the families to enjoy after the reading.
